New homeowners are required to have a landscape plan
approved by the Association before any actual landscape work is started and a
least the basic landscaping in place within 180 days following the closing of
the home (with a delay for the winter months).
Our goal is to help homeowners successfully plan their landscaping, plant and maintain
it, and to provide relevant information.
The Landscape & Architectural Review Committee (LARC) is responsible for reviewing and approving
landscape plans submitted by homeowners in the Saratoga Springs Homeowners Association. It is also responsible for approving additions or modification
to existing dwellings and significant landscape alterations.
The LARC becomes responsible for the above as soon as the homeowner takes possession of the property.

I will provide a weekly update in this space, covering the progress on our
landscape improvements and maintenance.
Bear Paw Landscapers are back this year, and we look forward to the
beautification that is in process. Community Solutions and Sales Management team
have been working closely with Bear Paw, the Board and the Landscape Committee,
providing a cohesive unit for planning, budgeting, and implementing all approved
decisions.
Our grounds have been aerated, fertilized (including trees), mowed, trimmed,
trash picked up (including the attack of the tumbleweeds), Moccasin Ct. parking
island restored, various irrigation lines repaired (water froze in the lines
despite winterization), broken sprinkler heads replaced, Marina weeds cleared, a
new common area has been completed on the south end of Centennial, and the
Jordan River Parkway entrance between Sunrise Circle and Island Ct. is restored
and ready for plantings.
We have been fortunate to have cool temperatures and fairly consistent rainfall.
There have been expected and unexpected challenges with our secondary water
system. The current problem seen along Parkway and Redwood is the sole
responsibility of the City. Our Landscaper cannot repair the leaks that have
occurred with the City lines on our property. We have been told the City will
attend to the problem as soon as possible, as their crews have been spread thin
this spring.
The dandelions along Redwood Rd. will be dealt with by next week. Bear Paw will
put a blue dye in the chemical so we can see where the area has been sprayed.
This color will last a couple of days, and will serve to alert pet owners and
parents to protect their pets and children by avoiding these areas that are
blue. The chemical is 'Round-up', and those with sensitivities should avoid
these areas. There will also be spraying of 'Round-up under the common area
fence lines where there are no obvious plantings.
The entrances are in the process of receiving proper lighting, adequate
irrigation, new shrubs and flowers, and rock mulch. The burned and melted fence
at our North entrance will be replaced by the Saratoga Springs Fire Department,
as their 'controlled burn' of the reeds got too close. Please call the office
with questions, concerns, or suggestions. Thanks for the privilege of serving
you……….. Gaylee Ankerberg, Landscape Chair.
